New to casio, need help with text program please!

Postby maraxion » Fri May 20, 2016 4:16 pm

Hello.

So iv got my hands on an "old" Casio fx9860GII SD. And I was interested in getting text on this.
After iv googled a while iv found alot of dead links and there seems to be 2(maybe more) programs.
- Text editor 1.6
- Noteview

What Im looking for is an easy to use program that let me transfeer "large" size files to the casio or the SD card. I do need an easy to use search function within the file if possible. Can someone please help me what program I should use? And also if its an easy TXT copy or something more complicated like a guide?

In front thanks for all the help!

I use Text editor 1.6, it's got a search function, and it automatically wraps the text so that you don't have an ultra long line of text when you transfer the .txt file to the calculator.

To transfer the .txt file to the calculator (and also the text-editor add-in) you will need a program called FA-124, it usually comes in a CD with the calculator, but you can also download it online here: https://edu.casio.com/education/support_software/ (you will need to tick the box at the top first to agree to the terms and conditions before downloading)

The calculator connects to the computer using a USB-mini USB cable, these were common in phones and controllers before the more recent micro USB port, CASIO also had another cable it made specifically for its calculators called the LINK cable.

Great.
Are there any limitation to file size etc? Read somewhwere about 40kb, but unsure if that was before or now.

Noteview for fx9860 is not an editor. It is a viewer, only. But it has no limitations concerning the filesize.

If you use "srch" (F4), you will find the first occurrence, if there is any. Use "cont" (F3) to find the next. But this applies to noteview. I don't know how Text editor works.

Inside Noteview - TXT reader for Prizm package you will find an executable called HexDump.exe as well as a readme file with usage instructions.

HexDump is a command line utility that replace special characters in your txt files with hex codes. It works with fx9860g too (note that some characters do not exist in mini font).
There is also an editor with GUI. The link was broken, but its fixed.
