Just seeing if there is a way to make calc-to-calc games in BASIC.

The commands Receive38k and Send38k (of fx9860/prizm) are intended to EA-200 (data analiser) not calc-calc communication.

In Classpad there are two extra commands (in addition to Receive38k, Send38k, OpenComPort38k, CloseComPort38k) intended for communication calc-calc:
-SendVar38K
-GetVar38K

Apparently is only possible with ClassPad.

Flyingfish, one way to make an all-basic games with communcation is to make a turn-base game, for example strategy, that keeps its complete state in a list. You make a move and send list to a partner. He makes move, which modifies the list and sends it back to you. This way you toss the list back and forth. It might be workable for games with long turn time, like vgaplanets (which is typically one turn per day) or likes.

Yes that's true, and that's actually something I didn't think about. Long-term turn-based strategy games are a genre I haven't seen in calc gaming yet. I may try that some time.

Unfortunately no. But is possible communicate in basic between for exemple a cp330 and a fx-cp400.

regarding the safe voltage range - what is the maximum one should not exceed to keep the electronics safe when sending/receiving over the serial port of prizms please?

Also what voltage calculator to calculator communication uses for logical 1 and 0 please. I recall some people referring to 3v, 5v etc, then prizm wiki saying it is 4.2v, my multimiter is probably wrong tool to measure it but it seems to be close to 2.8v on both rx and tx pins when running an add-in which opens the connection and tries to receive data. So i am trying to find out what voltage serial connection between two prizms operates at just not to endanger the hardware. Also does the length of the cross over 3-pin cable matter if where to build a longer like 1-2 meter version for example?

These are the limits for TTL 5V:
Input: low ≤ 0,8 high ≥ 2,0
Output: low ≤ 0,4 high ≥ 2,4

5 V should not be exceeded.

F. i. any Voltage between 2.4 and 5 V is a high signal.
