Increase in spam signups/posts lately
Lately, the number of spam signups/posts has increased.
Since a week ago, we had every day new spam posts. I do not like spam, and I'm doing everything possible to reduce it.
Only a captcha is not sufficient to stop the spammers. So I installed a plugin to synchronize information with Stop Forum Spam Database. It is efficient but still not enough.
Some spammers, using disposable emails could continue to create accounts.
Today, I created from an existing list on the internet and some lists of disposable email services a list of 288 email services used for spam:
All email services from the previous list were added to the blacklist and are no longer accepted. I hope this step is sufficient to reduce spam and keep the forum clean. Let's wait and see.
If you have more tips on how to reduce spam you can share them here. Will be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, Q&A is better than Captcha.
Also you should a add the question "Are you a bot" with "Yes" preselected.

Update Anti-Spam #2
Today we only had 1 spam post. Not bad, but I'm still not satisfied.
I put some new anti-spam measures in forum:
-Integration with Akismet service to automatically detect spam posts and not approve them for new users.
Posts detected as spam need moderator approval.
-I rewrote the code from the sidebar "Latest Posts" to not display posts in "Recycle bin" or unapproved (by Akismet).
The captcha that forum uses is not a regular captcha. It is a captcha html5 where the user must play a game.
Anyway, I read in phpbb forums that captchas like ReCaptcha are not very effective. They recommend Q&A.
The only problem is that Q&A can decrease the sign up number of potencial new users.
Do you know any mods that make it or i need create it in php?

Spam status:
Today we only had one spammer sign up who posted 1 post (Was automatically recognized as spam and unapproved by Akismet).
@Casimo, I appreciate your tips/links. I will put the question "Are you a bot" as soon as possible.
This week I will be a little busy and not have time to do that. I'll be out and maybe I will not have internet.

Btw, a pro tip: ASACP (anti spam admin control panel)!
You are able to one click ban users, use the "Antiforum spam" database to knock spammer ips out, etc.

Re: Increase in spam signups/posts lately
I'm already using ASACP and it has done a good job. I use the "Antiforum spam" database feature + Akismet for new registed users.
Spam dropped from 1/2 posts per day to 1/2 post per week (automatically unapproved).
